Dynamic Flexibility

What is Dynamic Flexibility?

Dynamic flexibility refers to the ability to move a joint or muscle through its full range of motion with speed and control. It is crucial for activities that require quick, powerful movements, such as sports and certain types of physical exercise. This type of flexibility involves both the muscles and the nervous system, allowing for smooth, coordinated movements.

Dynamic flexibility is different from static flexibility, which is the ability to hold a stretch in a fixed position. Instead, dynamic flexibility is about being able to perform dynamic movements, such as leg swings or arm circles, that take the muscles and joints through their complete range of motion.

Improving dynamic flexibility can enhance athletic performance, reduce the risk of injury, and improve overall functional movement. It is often developed through activities like dynamic stretching, plyometric exercises, and sport-specific drills.
