Hatakikomi

What is Hatakikomi?

Hatakikomi is a technique used in sumo wrestling. It involves a wrestler sidestepping his opponent's charge and using his hands to slap or pull the opponent down to the ground. This maneuver takes advantage of the opponent's forward momentum, causing them to lose balance and fall. Hatakikomi is considered a quick and strategic move, often used to surprise an opponent who is aggressively attacking.
